What a night for the home fans! In a Big Bash League match against Adelaide Strikers that swung like a pendulum, Brisbane Heat defended a total match win and celebrated a pulse-pounding 7-run victory over Adelaide Strikers. This is how things went down:

The First Innings: Bryant Boasts. The Heat lost early on Jack Wildermuth and Colin Munro cheaply, and an uphill battle. But Max Bryant took the innings of the game, lobbing a scorching 63 off of a measly 32 balls (SR: 196.88). Backed by the steady, steady 33 from Matt Renshaw, Bryant’s power-hitting ensured the Heat made a run of 179-9 in 20 overs. Matthew Short was the standout with the ball for the Strikers, picking up 2/13.

The Adelaide Strikers started off to a dream start, driving to 57/0. But the pace changed as soon as they slipped to 120/5. Just as the game appeared to be slipping away, Jerrssis Wadia walked in from playing No. 7 and turned the game upside down. Wadia took the "Power Surge", smashing three giant sixes in his first four shots. Then he finished off with a nice 34 off 16—Bringing Strikers into striking distance.

With 10 runs needed off the last six balls, the pressure was now primarily on 21-year-old debutant Tom Balkin. The youngster showed nerves of steel, executing his plan perfectly to pick up two wickets and concede only 2 runs, therefore sealing a memorable success for Brisbane.
